The poem this week, read by me was “Music to Me is Like Days” by Les Murry, an Australian poet. This was graciously found for me by Matt, the voice of reason & occasionally poetry, who’s read poems on the mixtape before.

Next Week: Spring Break. But we’ll be back on March 19th!

For the love of… visitors

So I have a friend in the studio and I just got a phone call. Perhaps someone is reading this after all, lol.

Busy in the studio, be sure to request, needing more songs to fill out the night.

For the love of… phone calls!

Now Playing: Soulive — Cannonball

I hope you liked that connection between “At Last” and Spring break :) I know I can’t wait. I’m driving home tomorrow. BTW, Yo, phone calls are my favorite part of the show! especially from strangers but I also like it from friends from home. It lets me know I’m not talking to myself on the radio.

Ya’ll can call in at 804 289 8790 or if  you’re on campus just 8790 from a land line phone. Make a DJ’s day and call him or her during the show :)

Liveblogging: For the Love of music

•March 5, 2009 • Leave a Comment

So, while I do these shows, I’m usually multi-tasking. I’m looking up PSAs, writing down tracks, checking to see if people are listening on line (we’ve got a tracker), answering calls, finding requested songs, and oh yeah…

playing music.

But I have a few standby friends who I talk to on AIM during the show, and often friends come by to visit. If I’ve planned the show well, I can be a good host and chat with them while the songs are playing. If not, i’m running around finding music (or a poem for midnight word)

Today’s pretty chill. Corey (the supplier) is chatting with me on AIM as well as some UofR folks. there are quite a few online listeners… and it’s time for a PSA. Later!!

It’s been a while! Live blogging the 3/5/2009 episode…

Hey everyone! So, I’ve been intensely busy with schoolwork and whatnot so I haven’t had time to upload the soundtracks to the two latest shows. Of course, we had the long anticipated Valentine’s Mix 2009, which I’ll be posting post-haste. Thanks you guys for making it my most listened to show (at least from the online listeners. who knows how many of ya’ll were listening on the radio!)

After that we had “Stamps on My Passport”, a sampling of music from all over the world. So, to make up for my errors, i’m gonna be live blogging this week’s show, “For the Love of Music”. Right now, one of the CD players in the studio is messing up, and I’m trying something new in playback, but so far, so good.

Right now, “Pieces of Me” is playing. It’s the good version, with Amarie singing and Rare Essence dropping a gogo beat in the background. Gotta get back but I’ll will hit this up with an update soon!
